Pie & Vinyl Presents and BFFs Honeymooner are super excited to announce that the wonderful Amber Arcades will be playing for us on Friday 20th July as part of her UK tour.

Signed to HEAVENLY RECORDINGS – home to King Gizzard & The Lizard WizardMark LaneganGwenno – she is due to release her second album ‘European Heartbreak’ on 28th September following this year’s singles ‘Simple Song’ and ‘Goodnight Europe’. We can’t wait to hear her showcase her new material in the intimate climes of The Loft.

Having written and recorded songs in a solo setting since her teenage years in her native Utrecht, Holland, Amber Arcades – real name Annelotte de Graaf – flew out to New York in 2015 and teamed up with producer Ben Greenberg of the Men to record her debut album ‘Fading Lines’ which she funded entirely by herself. The beautiful swooning songs she captured caught the ear of Heavenly who released the album the same year with the equally sublime ‘Cannonball’ EP following in 2017.

The ethereal shimmering nature of her music has been glowingly compared to Mazzy Star / Hope Sandoval and Broadcast and whilst these comparisons ring true they fail to also communicate the gently propulsive insistent nature of the music that gives movement to the dreamscapes created, reminiscent of peers such as ChastityBelt and Beach Fossils.

As well as being a supreme musical talent Annelotte also hold a masters degree in law and has worked as a legal aid in war crimes tribunals and as an immigration lawyer assessing refugee asylum claims in her native Holland.

‘One of the most quietly unassuming yet inherently beautiful records to grace our speakers in years. Motorik driven bliss.’ 10/10 – Drowned in Sound

‘One of the most infectious collections of pop songs written on an electric guitar this year.’ 8/10 – The Line of Best Fit

‘Ripe with subtle nuance, ‘Fading Lines’ is an exquisite debut. Seemingly simple yet running far deeper than cursory listens reveal, it’s a record that sticks with you long after the closing notes of the aptly titled ‘White Fuzz’ fade out.’ 8/10 – Clash Magazine

‘Wistful vocals drift across the album like a cool breeze on a sun-dappled afternoon.’ 7/10 – Loud & Quiet

‘Blissful, elegant records like this do not come about by chance.’ 5* – The Skinny
