New Music Monday – 18/02/13

Does it ever stop? – the first proper ‘Legend’ album of the year with Nick Cave & The bad seeds sublime, minimal spacious new offering Push the sky away. This comes with a free 7” only available at participating indie stores (which we are one). Iceage return with snotty second – good looking anger from the Danish boys. Jamie Lidell returns with praised album of the same name. Bella Union signings Concrete Knives release debut. The Bonnie prince returns with umpteenth album with pal Dawn McCarthy reinterpreting Everly brothers songs. Mazes second, ores and minerals expand their teenage fanclub/Malkmus sound. Electronic duo Matmos release to critical acclaim. New girl boy band, Girls Names release very strong debut all the way from Belfast. Modern Bluegrass courtesy of The Black Twig Pickers, and by contrast Dan Friel excels in electronic/punk sounds. Lastly Suffocation do just that…….
