Portsmouth central creative, ‘The Boy I Used To Be’ has been working hard for a few years now, honing his craft – writing great songs, and playing out as much as he could. The boy has reached manhood, and the time has come for his unique brand of lo-fi bedroom grungedance pop to be released in to the wild.
Pie&Vinyl records are extremely proud to announce the second release on the label, the outstanding piece of work ‘Friday Morning EP’.
Released on limited hand-numbered cassette and download code. This will be available to purchase on record store day April 19th, and on line from April 21st.

Pretty tired, ‘The Boy I Used To Be’ will also be supporting ‘Oliver Wilde’, next Saturday at the square tower – more details here: http://www.pieandvinyl.co.uk/events/pievinyl-presents-oliver-wilde-live-square-tower-build-record-store-day-2014-begins/
The Boy I Used To Be is the project of Portsmouth’s Edward Perry, who has been cutting his musical teeth with his own brand of Lo-Fi Psych Pop. He joins the label family of Pie and Vinyl Records with his first EP ‘Friday Morning’ to be released on Record Store Day, Saturday 19th April.
Having sculpted the bedroom recordings that make up ‘Friday Morning’ for the best part of a year, Edward has taken the songs out of his four walls and onto stages with Devonte Hynes, Drenge, Cosmo Sheldrake, Wild Smiles and Lucy Rose. The summer sees The Boy I Used To Be growing beyond Edward and his laptop for company, with a full band on the horizon ready to hit the festival season including Isle of Wight Festival and Blissfields, as well as a tour with noisy label mates Rickyfitts in the works.
‘Friday Morning’ comes out on cassette tape, joined by a download code for those on the go. The limited run of 100 will be available from the Pie and Vinyl shop in Southsea and online whilst numbers last.
