Pie&Vinyl Presents…GIRL BAND with support from Breathe out…

Pie&Vinyl in association with Can’t Hear My Eyes and Outright Management are proud to present yet another night of stupidly good new music at one of Southsea’s finest public houses The Registry.

As usual, the doors will open at 8pm with music kicking off from 9. Plus: FREE ENTRY, which means no excuses!

Coming to our shores from Dublin, Ireland, GIRL BAND are a riotous noise rock quartet that fans of mclusky, Jesus Lizard and Japandroids are going to get along with very well indeed. Their latest EP ‘France 98’ is available on limited edition 12″ black wax now and is full to the rafters with hooky and hazey tunes like the mesmerising ‘Busy At Maths’ and ‘That Snake Conor Cusack’, which actually sounds a bit like Deerhunter at the noisiest and brashest.

“This is maniacal music, the kind that translates onto its listener and turns them into a more rabid individual. Watch out.” – This is Fake DIY

“musically somewhere between bleach-era nirvana, mclusky, jesus lizard and even that incendiary first idlewild demo in their teens, long before they started sounding like rem. this a band listening to the same bands as metz have been listening to, but living a lot closer to home.’ a must.” – ROUGH TRADE

“Second One is a fantastic blast of punky fury and righteous energy.” THE IRISH TIMES

These connoisseurs of fuzzy pop are back with a new EP which is fresh of the shelves from last month – ‘Absolute True Love’ – which comes via one of the UK’s finest independent record labels Art is Hard Records. Recorded in the same studio as previous material by Fear of Men, Flamingods, Boneyards and Dignan Porch, fans of Weezer’s early material and any lo-fi enthusiasts since will find plenty to love here.
